Our Specialty

The Difficult & Dangerous Jobs Other Crews Refuse

Storms don't break trees neatly. When trunks split, root plates lift or massive limbs are hung up over a roof, the job becomes high-risk and technical. That's our wheelhouse.

Trees on Houses & Buildings

Careful sectional dismantling using cranes and rigging to lift weight off the structure before cutting — minimising further damage.

Leaning & Uprooted Trees

Compromised root plates and unstable leans are stabilised, secured and removed safely without dropping load on assets.

Hung-Up Limbs & Widow-Makers

Suspended broken limbs are the leading cause of post-storm injuries. We remove them from a safe distance using EWPs and pole work.

Split & Cracked Trunks

Trees with structural failures are unpredictable. We assess load paths, set rigging and bring them down in controlled sections.

Trees on Power Lines

We coordinate with power authorities and use insulated equipment to clear vegetation off live and de-energised lines.

Restricted Access Sites

Narrow side gates, steep blocks, pools and tight backyards — we use compact tracked machinery, cranes and craft to get in and out clean.

How a Storm Damage Claim Actually Works

Most people lose money on a storm claim by cleaning up before they document it. Here is the order that keeps your claim intact.

  1. 1. Photograph before you touch anything

Wide shots and close-ups of the tree, the damage and any debris, taken from a safe distance. Timestamped photos are the single strongest piece of evidence in a claim.

  2. 2. Call us for emergency make-safe

Every standard policy allows urgent works to prevent further damage. We isolate the hazard, tarp openings where needed and invoice the make-safe separately so it is easy to claim.

  3. 3. Lodge the claim and get a claim number

Call your insurer as soon as the property is safe. Give them our make-safe invoice and photos — it demonstrates you mitigated further loss.

  4. 4. We supply the quote and arborist report

An itemised written quote for the full removal, plus an arborist's statement on the cause of failure — storm, wind, saturated ground or pre-existing defect. This is what assessors ask for.

  5. 5. Assessor approves the scope

We deal with the assessor or the insurer's builder directly so you are not translating arborist language into claim language.

  6. 6. Removal, clean-up and direct billing

Tree removed, timber chipped, site cleaned, after photos supplied. In most cases we invoice the insurer directly so you are never out of pocket for the full amount.

Tree on power lines? Call your distributor first.

Depending on where you are in Melbourne that is AusNet Services, Powercor, United Energy, Jemena or CitiPower. Never approach a tree in contact with lines. Once the network is made safe, call us on 0468 355 722 and we will remove the tree.

Storm Damage & Insurance FAQs

Does home insurance cover storm damage tree removal in Victoria?

In most Victorian home and contents policies, removal of a fallen tree is covered where it has damaged an insured structure — the house, garage, fence, deck or a vehicle under a comprehensive policy. Removal of a tree that simply fell on open lawn without hitting anything is often excluded. Check your product disclosure statement, and send us the wording if you are unsure.

What documentation will my insurer need?

Typically: dated photos of the damage before clean-up, a written quote itemising the make-safe works and the full removal, and an arborist's statement on the cause of failure. We supply all three as standard, including before and after photos of the completed work.

Can you bill my insurer directly?

In most cases yes. Once your claim number is issued we can invoice the insurer or their appointed builder directly. For urgent make-safe work we can start before the claim is finalised so the property is not left dangerous.

Should I wait for the assessor before removing the tree?

Never wait if the tree is still dangerous. Every policy allows emergency make-safe works to prevent further damage — that is exactly what insurers expect. Photograph everything first, keep our make-safe invoice separate from the full removal quote, and the assessor can inspect afterwards.

Who pays if my neighbour's tree fell on my property?

In Victoria, liability generally follows negligence — if the tree was healthy and failed in a storm it is usually treated as an act of nature and each owner claims on their own policy. If the tree was visibly dead or the owner was warned in writing and did nothing, their liability insurance may respond. Our arborist reports document tree condition either way.

How quickly can you make the property safe?

We answer 24/7 and prioritise trees on houses, vehicles and power lines. From our Kealba yard we typically reach western, northern and inner Melbourne within 1–3 hours in normal conditions, and same day across the wider metro area.
